So, when Nanna migrated to Australia at just 18, the world around her felt unfamiliar. With no family nearby and no one who spoke her language, she found comfort in her garden, recreating the familiar flavours of home, and eventually building a family of her own.
Years later, when one of her grandchildren decided to go plant-based, Nanna was presented with an opportunity to try something new. Instead of leaving beloved family recipes behind, they worked together to reimagine them – finding fresh ways to honour the dishes that shaped their shared love of food and family.
And that’s what The Nanna Diaries is all about: cooking, connection, and the joy of reinventing nostalgic family favourites with the ones you love.
