These golden, flaky, snackable ‘pigs’ in blankets are ideal for parties and holidays… No need to point out to your fellow party-goers that you threw together this moreish savoury treat with just a few simple store-bought ingredients!
You will need
Serves 10-15
2 sheets of frozen puff pastry, thawed but chilled
12 plant-based hot dog sausages, cut into 3cm pieces (each hot dog should be cut into quarters or thirds)
Preheat oven to 200°C (fan) or 180°C (conventional). Line 2 baking trays with baking paper.
Step 2
Cut the puff pastry into long, narrow triangular strips, such that the width of each long strip is a little narrower than each piece of sausage.
Step 3
Place a piece of sausage on the wider end of a puff pastry triangle and roll it in the pastry so the tip of the triangle is the last point to wrap around it. Repeat for the remaining sausages and pastry and arrange them on the baking trays.
Step 4
In a small bowl, mix 1 teaspoon of water with the maple syrup and salt. Use a pastry brush to brush the mixture on the pastry. Sprinkle with sesame and poppy seeds.
Step 5
Bake the pigs in blankets for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Serve hot or at room temperature.
