From vegan milk chocolate to dark chocolate, salted caramel & more – these decadent bars & slabs are guaranteed to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Chocolate lovers, rejoice! The vegan chocolate game has seriously levelled up – these days, there are more melt-in-your-mouth options than ever, and you won’t miss the dairy one bit.

Over the last few years, supermarkets have seen a massive rise in 100% vegan chocolate brands, offering a diverse range of classic varieties and fancy flavour combinations.

But more than that: Even some of the most popular names in the chocolate world have jumped in on the action by releasing vegan-friendly slabs – like Lindt, for example!

Whether you crave rich dark chocolate with a bitter edge or the creamy, nostalgic sweetness of milk-style varieties without the dairy, there’s a plant-based chocolate bar (or two, or ten…) for everyone.

Ready to explore what’s on offer? Speaking as a true chocolate aficionado, here’s some of the absolute best vegan chocolate you’ll find on the shelves right now.

1. Alter Eco (certain flavours)

Sustainably sweet and utterly indulgent, Alter Eco crafts chocolate that’s a treat for both your taste buds and the planet – including a vast range of plant-based slabs. My personal favourites are their Orange Blackout and Sea Salt flavours, but if you like a bit of crispiness in your chocolate pieces, Quinoa Crunch will absolutely hit the spot.

Note: A few Alter Eco products contain dairy, so double-check the ingredients before indulging! You can find a list of all their 100% vegan-friendly options here

Flavours:

  • Super Blackout
  • Mint Blackout
  • Classic Blackout
  • Sea Salt
  • Quinoa Crunch
  • Raspberry Blackout

With its elegant, nature-inspired packaging (seriously, I will never not be charmed by those dapper, adorable little birds 🥺💕), Bennetto chocolate is just as delightful to unwrap as it is to eat. The only problem is that all their blocks look so enticing, it’s nearly impossible to choose.

If you want my recommendation, try their utterly blissful Salted Caramel or Coconut Flakes Dark Chocolate varieties. My mouth waters just thinking about them!

Flavours:

  • Raspberry Dark Chocolate Block
  • Mint Dark Chocolate Block
  • Coconut Flakes Dark Chocolate Block
  • Salted Caramel Dark Chocolate Block

I’m going to keep this short-lived and sweet, just like a block of Tony’s Chocolonely…

Their Dark Almond Sea Salt flavour is unbelievable – so bold and salty and delicious that words fail to convey just how addictive it is. Do yourself a favour and get this chocolate, pronto.

(I promise this is not an ad; I just feel very passionately about Tony’s and have probably eaten my weight in this particular flavour by now. Plus, it’s ethically sourced and produced, so truly no regrets!)

Note: There are currently only two vegan-friendly flavours in the Tony’s Chocolonely range, so be sure to check the label before grabbing a slab.

Feeling inspired to make your own sweet treats?

An overhead shot homemade tim tams.

These amazing dairy-free chocolates are obviously delicious as-is, but many of them (particularly the more classic ‘milk’, dark, and white chocolate varieties) are also ideal for baking!

Try using them as an ingredient in one of these irresistible vegan dessert recipes – they’re the perfect way to turn your favourite vegan chocolate bar into something even more indulgent:

You can find actual vegan chocolate chips and cooking chocolates in the baking section of some supermarkets. Still, I usually just chop up Lindt’s 70% Cocoa block into ‘chips’ instead, because it’s reliably easy to find and melts like a dream.

The shops are choc-full of vegan options these days!

Thanks to skyrocketing demand, there are more vegan products in supermarkets than ever before, including the lolly and chocolate aisle – and if this list has only just begun to satisfy your cravings, there’s an even bigger world of chocolates yet to explore online

Who knew vegan eating could be this sweet?

Having grown up in a “meat and 3 veg” kind of household, Liv’s embarrassed to admit that she was a bit of a one-note chef until she began exploring the world of plant-based food. Vegan cooking has given her a whole new appreciation for the symphonies of flavours that simple, nourishing wholefood ingredients can create. (Even eggplant, once her greatest nemesis, is now — in a delicious, miso-glazed redemption arc — her all-time favourite veg.)
